| General Assistance—Unemployable | |
| Washington’s General Assistance—Unemployable (GA-U) program provides temporary cash and medical benefits for adults who are physically and/or mentally incapacitated and considered unemployable. The 2009 Legislature directed the Institute to conduct an assessment of the state-funded GA-U program and to review similar programs in other states. This study will include a review of the research literature to identify approaches that have been found to improve client outcomes and reduce state costs. The Institute will publish its report by December 2009.
