| Educational Attainment of Foster Youth: 2009 Update | |
| In 2001, the Institute compared achievement and graduation outcomes of foster youth to the general student population. This research included an analysis of factors related to educational progress (like school mobility, retention, and special services) and looked at achievement gaps at both the elementary and secondary levels. The Department of Social and Health Services has contracted with the Institute to update this study. The revised study will examine how foster students fare on the WASL in grades 4, 7, and 10. In addition, this study will analyze ‘on-time’ graduation rates for foster students in grade 12. The first study analyzing foster students' WASL performance can be found here. In 2009, this analysis was repeated for a new cohort of students. Click here to view the latest report.
