| 'Foster Care to 21' Program Evaluation | |
| The 2006 Legislature authorized the Department of Social and Health Services to allow a specific number of youth per year with either a high school diploma or GED to remain in foster care until they reach age 21. These 'continuing foster care' youth must be enrolled in a post-secondary academic or vocational program. The Legislature directed the Institute to "conduct a study measuring outcomes for foster youth who have received continued support." The first report was completed in 2008 and the final report to the legislature will be published in December 2009.
