| Independent Housing Program for Foster Youth | |
| The Independent Youth Housing Program (IYHP) was created by the 2007 Legislature. This program provides housing vouchers to youth (aged 18-23) who recently aged out of the foster care system. The Department of Commerce (formerly Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED)) oversees the program. Each year, the Department must issue a report which focuses on the following performance measures related to the program: 1) housing stability, 2) economic self-sufficiency, 3) independent living skills, 4) education and job training, and 5) program eligibility. The legislation directs the Institute to "conduct a study measuring the outcomes for youth who are participating or who have participated in the independent youth housing program." Reports are due to the Legislature in December 2009 and December 2010.
