| Public Guardianship Office | |
| The 2007 Legislature created an independent Office of Public Guardianship located within the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). Guardians are given the power by the courts to make decisions for persons determined to be ‘incapacitated’ and unable to care for him or herself. The AOC will contract for guardianship services for individuals with incomes less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level and for whom no other individual is willing or able to serve. A report summarizing the public guardianship pilot program and initial implementation can be found here. The Institute will "analyze the costs and off-setting savings to the state from the delivery of pilot public guardianship services" in its December 2011 final report.
